Did you make it to Shalomfest 2016? It is  a wonderful, one-day celebration of Jewish culture in the SC Upstate.  Shalomfest is a once a year event hosted by the Temple Of Israel, that showcases Jewish history and culture. There are booths selling jewelry and other Judaica items, and also educational booths, such as the one I host for the Greenville Jewish Federation. In addition, there are educational sessions all day, a story-teller, cooking demo, mock bar mitzvah, and mock Jewish wedding. There are exhibits on Israel, the Holocaust, and the Torah (jewish Bible). This year there was also a talk by Trude Heller, widow of former Greenville mayor Max Heller, and a Holocaust survivor. There are magic tricks, face painting, and a bounce house for the kids, and let's not forget the wonderful Jewish FOOD! Everything except for the food is free! If you missed it this year there is another chance in 2017. It is a great event!
