“In some sort of crude sense which no vulgarity, no humor, no overstatement can quite extinguish, the physicists have known sin; and this is a knowledge which they cannot lose.” -
The Northgate Soda Shop
The Northgate Soda Shope, at 918 North Main Street, is an easily overlooked Greenville landmark.
From their website:
"Opened in 1947 across from The North Main Rotary Ball Park, The Soda Shop has been a tradition with regulars, locals and visitors. It is an original and one of the last of a vanishing era. If you crave nostalgia or want to drift back to your younger days or childhood this is the place. The walls may not talk, but they tell a story of the history of Old Greenville, the restaurant and customers. Join us in this comfortable, timeless environment where people gather to eat, drink and socialize. You never know who might be at the next table or bar stool."
There is no fancy food here, but if you are craving a pimento burger they have one of the best, along with an assortment of sandwhiches and salads, and milkshakes made the old-fashioned way, with real ice cream. Your food will be brought out on paper plates, but those plates will be overflowing with old-fashioned, filling food. I ate there today with two of my grown children, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I recommend you give it a try!

I have been practicing real estate in the Upstate of SC for 4 years, and have been a realtor for almost 18 years. I love this area and especially enjoy helping people relocate to beautiful Greenville....
